Happy (belated) National Donut Day!

Okay, to be very honest, I completely missed this wonderful holiday because of stinkin’ finals week, but I just had to do something. And unfortunately, it’s officially 12 o’clock at night and I’m craving donuts.

So what’s your favorite donut?

Guess what! It’s FIFA Soccer time. So here’s a little something-something.

I’m finally home from college, so I’ll be able to come back to draw and post up more designs. Since I’m home, that also means I can watch FIFA with my dad (it’s a family thing). So, USA is playing against Ghana right now, wish them luck!

Hi everyone,

So, I’ve been sick and sluggish, but thanks to my brother, he got a couple of shots while I was drawing. I did a couple of drawings in spirit of spring, so expect and enjoy a couple of these sketchbook pieces.

Sometimes you find yourself in this dark state of mind and it just feels like you’re the only occupant.

My thought process behind this design was literally illustrating a physical land mass, like an actual state. I’ve been examining vintage California poster designs from, California Here I Come: Vintage California Graphics, by Ed. Jim Heimann, and I was really inspired by that.

Trauma has an ongoing effect over time. It can effect how we function in our daily lives or left suppressed in our mind or dreams. Dreams allow repressed thoughts to be expressed, allowing problems to be examined and dealt with mentally through our sleep. In this series, I intend to portray some of my anxieties by rendering them through illustrations of my own reoccurring nightmares caused by childhood trauma that has been repressed.

Overall, my art is mainly focused on life experiences. I want them to be relatable, yet helpful. I guess that’s my whole purpose for some of my more personal works. I’m more connected to these more intimate series that allow you to get to know me as not just an artist, but also as an individual. Like my Lessons Learned series, I hope you can connect with these too. Setting aside my holiday inspired designs for a moment, I hope that my personal ones can find its way to someone who is in a similar position and help them understand that…You’re not alone. Don’t let go.
